Cape Coast Technical University Orientation 2019
Cape Coast Technical University has organized a two- day orientation programme for newly-admitted students for the 2019/2020 Academic Year. The two day programme was aimed at orienting fresh students towards their stay on campus.
Rt Rev. Prof. Joshua Danso Owusu–Sekyere, Vice Chancellor of the University, welcomed the students to the land of opportunities on behalf of Management and staff of the University. He advised them to abide by the rules regulating the University, urged them to remain focused, so as to live to the expectation of family members who have made a lot of sacrifices to enable them gain admission to this prestigious University. He said, “Enjoy university life, get involved in everything that is good, but at the end of the day, you would have to give an account of yourself”.
Addressing the students, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mr. Eugene O. Acheampong, noted that CCTU would equip the students with critical thinking mind for self-development and better participation in the development agenda of the nation. He further stated in his address that his office respects the rights and integrity of students. “We believe in loyalty, we believe in sincerity, we believe in truthfulness and therefore, we don’t tolerate any mischievous activities of students, so, we always entreat students to do what is responsible”. He implored the students to read the Students’ Handbook, which regulates the conduct and activities of students on campus.
Mr. Michael Nyarko, an Assistant Registrar at the Examinations Unit also briefed the students on the rules and regulations governing grading system and educated them on their respective programmes. He cautioned them to stay away from examination malpractices. Mr. Wilfred K. Biney (librarian) also advised the students to take their studies seriously and make judicious use of the library. ‘Spend more time at the library studying because it is the reason why you are here on campus’. He advised.
The Counsellor of the University, Mrs. Esther A. Boham, entreated the students to seek counseling whenever they are confronted with personal, educational and carrier goals challenges. Dr. Kwabena Oteng Birimpong, the Medical Director at the University’s Clinic beseeched students to seek medical care whenever they have health challenges.
